FRENCH PRESS
FRENCH PRESS
My first introduction to French Press wasn't in a cafe - it was by Ewan McGregor in the movie, 'Black Hawk Down'. He is using a french press, and says the words 'I made coffee during Desert Storm'. While the context was different, I actually believe that FP would be the only brewing apparatus that I could see being used in Desert Storm.
The FP is the most forgiving form of coffee brewing. You can achieve a great cup of coffee without correct technique or even without measuring (while we still recommend you measure). It is the vibe-coding equivalent of coffee.
I don't use the FP as I have progressed into the speciality coffee world - but if someone asked me how they could shift from instant coffee, I would tell them to buy a FP and a bag of ground coffee from Starbucks. At least, that is how I started.
